Former world champion in the heavyweight division Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KO) responded to the attacks from Francis Ngannou (0-2) and declared his readiness for a fight with the former UFC champion. "I respect you, but I stand my ground. No fear, no running, no pretending. Always ready, always steady. Step into the ring, and you will understand what it means," Wilder wrote on social media, noting the Cameroonian.

Several hours earlier, Ngannou posted a training video with the caption: "It’s time to finally settle this dispute".

Ngannou has had two professional fights. In October 2023, he lost to Tyson Fury by split decision, and in March of last year, he was knocked out by Anthony Joshua.

In June, Wilder scored a TKO victory over Tyrrell Herndon, returning to the ring after a year-long break. This was the American’s first professional win in almost three years.
