Negotiations have begun for a fight between the two interim world heavyweight champions, Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KO) and Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KO). The fight is provisionally scheduled for October 25 in London.
Parker is the interim world champion according to the WBO, while Wardley holds the interim WBA belt. Parker remains the official challenger for the title of Oleksandr Usyk, but the Ukrainian is unlikely to return to the ring this year.
Wardley has won his recent fights against Justis Huni and Frazer Clarke. Parker’s February victory over Martin Bakole marked his return to the ring after a year-long hiatus.
