WBC President Addresses Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.'s Legal Troubles: "It's a Complicated Situation"

Chavez Jr. lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul on June 28 in Anaheim, California. After the fight, ICE agents detained him for lying on his residency application and overstaying his visa.

The boxer ended up at the Federal Center for Social Rehabilitation in Hermosillo, Sonora. He's now dealing with some heavy accusations. Authorities say he might have links to the Sinaloa Cartel, and they're looking into possible arms trafficking and organized crime involvement. The investigation started back in 2019.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman stood up for the Chavez family. He said:

"There is a lot of misinformation, a lot of ignorance. Until we really know what it's all about, we cannot give a formal opinion."

Sulaiman keeps in touch with Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., who's having a tough time as a father. Chavez Sr. said:

"He is devastated as a father. There is a lot of ambiguity in the charges and he deserves a fair investigation."

This isn't Chavez Jr.'s first run-in with the law. In 2012, police arrested him for driving under the influence in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, he got arrested for having illegal weapons but got out on bail and went to rehab.

His marriage to US citizen Frida Munoz made things more complicated. Munoz's past relationship with Edgar Guzman, son of the former Sinaloa Cartel leader, gave authorities more reason to suspect Chavez Jr.

The legal process continues, with the Chavez family and boxing figures like Sulaiman backing him up. They want everyone to respect the legal process and believe the truth will come out soon.
