Manny Pacquiao Names His Magic Number for Gervonta Davis Showdown: "I Can Make It"

Pacquiao, now 46 years old, showed he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. The eight-division world champion's performance has led to discussions about his next move, with Davis emerging as a possible opponent.

Sean Gibbons, Pacquiao's advisor, addressed the weight issue that could affect the potential matchup. Pacquiao stated, "If he comes up to 147 then we can fight … 145 maybe." The Filipino fighter added confidently, "Oh that's not a problem for me because I'm experienced fighter."

Davis, the current WBA Lightweight World Champion, has never fought above 140 lbs. In fact, he stopped Mario Barrios at that weight in 2021. However, 'Tank' has had his share of challenges recently. In March, he fought to a controversial split decision draw against Lamont Roach Jr.

"If he comes up to 147 then we can fight … 145 maybe."

Davis' legal troubles have also made headlines. He was recently arrested on domestic violence charges, adding another layer of complexity to any potential fight negotiations.

While the Pacquiao-Davis matchup generates buzz, other options remain on the table for both fighters. Pacquiao could pursue a rematch with Barrios, or look towards bouts with Ryan Garcia or Rolando Romero. As for Davis, a rematch with Roach Jr seems unlikely, as the latter has expressed skepticism about the possibility.

Pacquiao's comeback and the potential clash with Davis have certainly got the boxing world talking. The coming weeks will likely bring more clarity on what's next for both fighters.
