Anthony Joshua plans to return to the ring, but his opponent remains a mystery. The two-time former world heavyweight champion hasn't fought since September 2024 when Daniel Dubois stopped him inside five rounds for the IBF championship.
At 35, Joshua's likely making his last run at world honors. He's coming off elbow surgery and hasn't started punching fully yet. This setback has put his serious training camp on hold.
Jarrell Miller claims he offered Joshua a fight, but AJ turned it down. Miller told The Stomping Ground in a recent interview:
"AJ turned down the fight four times in the last month, he is looking for a tune-up. Sorry guys in the UK, AJ is a real bag of fart dust."
Miller and Joshua have history. They were set to fight at Madison Square Garden in June 2019 for AJ's U.S. debut. The bout got canceled when Miller failed a drug test. Andy Ruiz Jr stepped in as a replacement and shocked the world by knocking out Joshua. AJ got his revenge and unified belts back that December.
After a ban, Miller took three years away before returning to the world scene. He drew with Andy Ruiz Jr last August, lost to Daniel Dubois in December 2023, and beat Lucas Browne in March 2023. Now, he's looking for an opponent to get back in the world title picture.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, says they haven't made Miller a formal offer or had further talks, even though his name came up.
Joshua's taking his time picking his next opponent. He'll want to make sure he's fully recovered and ready before jumping back into the ring. The heavyweight division's waiting to see who he'll choose for his comeback fight.
