Mike Tyson has spoken up about who he thinks is the greatest fighter of all time. The former heavyweight champion shared his thoughts in a recently resurfaced clip.
Tyson, known as "Iron Mike," made a name for himself early in his career. He won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, with 12 of those wins coming in the first round. In 1986, at just 20 years old, Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight champion when he knocked out Trevor Berbick in the second round to win the WBC title.
He didn't stop there. Tyson went on to beat James Smith for the WBA title and Tony Tucker for the IBF belt. By 21, he had become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Despite his own impressive career, Tyson doesn't consider himself the greatest. The clip shows Tyson responding to Floyd Mayweather Jr's claim of being the best ever. Mayweather, a former pound-for-pound star, made this statement in a video that's been making the rounds.
"Alright listen we're talking about Floyd, and listen we all gotta believe we're the greatest of all times, right? We all gotta believe that, but we all know Muhammad Ali is the greatest of all times."
Ali, the legendary heavyweight, left a lasting mark on the sport. He's remembered not just for his outstanding boxing skills, but also for his influence outside the ring. Ali dominated the heavyweight division in the 1970s.
One of Ali's most famous moments came in 1974 during "The Rumble In The Jungle." His fight against George Foreman is often called one of boxing's most iconic events.
Tyson's words show the respect many fighters have for Ali's legacy, even as they strive to make their own mark in boxing history.
