Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are getting ready to face off in the ring. The two boxers will meet on June 28 in Anaheim for a cruiserweight bout that's got people talking.
Chavez Jr, now 39, started his boxing career way back in 2003. He's from Culiacan, Mexico, and has had his fair share of ups and downs in the sport. In 2011, he reached the top when he beat Sebastian Zbik for the WBC world middleweight title. But just a year later, he lost that belt to Sergio Martinez.
Since then, Chavez Jr has struggled to get back to world title fights. He's lost to some big names like Canelo Alvarez, Daniel Jacobs, and even MMA star Anderson Silva. Now, he's focusing on getting ready for Paul.
In a recent chat with TMZ Sports, Chavez Jr said:
"You know, I'm worried about my condition and being 100% at the fight. Of course I know that he's a fighter, he's big, so I want to prepare myself to be the best this June 28, that's it."
On the other side of the ring, we've got Jake Paul. At 28, he's quite a bit younger than Chavez Jr. Paul, who's from Cleveland, has made a name for himself by switching from social media to boxing. He's only lost once in his career so far, to Tommy Fury in February 2023.
Paul's not shy about his goals. He wants to become a real world champion. There's even talk about him possibly fighting Gervonta Davis, the WBA lightweight champ, in a catchweight bout before the end of 2025.
For Chavez Jr, this fight is a chance to stop Paul's rise in the boxing world. For Paul, it's another step in his boxing journey.
The fight is set for June 28 in Anaheim. It'll be interesting to see how these two very different boxers match up in the ring.
