Carl Froch Reveals Surprising Reason Why Chris Eubank Jr Might Dodge Conor Benn Rematch: "He's Not Confident"

Now, former super-middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks a rematch between the two might not happen. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Sporting Talk.

"I'd be surprised if Conor Benn wants that fight. His trainer, Tony Sims, knows better than to put him back in there with him."

Froch believes Eubank Jr. has the upper hand now. He thinks any rematch would likely be at 160 lbs, but without the 10 lbs rehydration clause that hampered Eubank Jr. in the first fight.

"It might be at 160, but there won't be a 10lbs rehydration clause in the rematch. Eubank holds all the cards now."

The weight difference between the two fighters is a big issue, according to Froch. He doesn't see Benn as a super middleweight and thinks taking the fight wouldn't be in Benn's best interest.

"Conor Benn is not a super middleweight, so if you're looking after Conor Benn and not the bank account of somebody else, then you're not taking that fight."

The first fight was a tough 12-round battle. Benn started strong, but Eubank Jr. took control as the fight went on. Eubank Jr. barely made weight and struggled with the rehydration clause on fight day.

Froch's view goes against what many expect. Most people think the rematch will happen, possibly in September. But if it doesn't, both fighters have plenty of other options.

Josh Kelly has already said he wants to fight whoever wins if there is a rematch. We'll have to wait and see what Eubank Jr. and Benn decide to do next.
