Shakur Stevenson Calls Out Gervonta Davis Over Potential Jake Paul Bout: "Real Fighters Don't..."

Stevenson has been after a fight with Davis for years. But talks never got off the ground. Now, he's upset that Davis might choose an exhibition with Jake Paul instead of facing him in the ring.

"Tank is disrespecting the sport if he chooses that (an exhibition with Paul) instead of fighting me," Stevenson said. "I'm the best fighter in the sport. Let him come and prove it."

While Stevenson pushes for a legitimate title fight, Davis seems to be leaning towards the media route. Jake Paul has even weighed in on the potential exhibition:

"We're working on it behind the scenes. We want to give fans the biggest show of the year."

The clash between real fights and exhibition matches is splitting the boxing world. Fans are getting impatient, wanting to see Stevenson and Davis face off for real.

But there are hurdles. Stevenson fights under Top Rank on ESPN, while Davis is with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Showtime and pay-per-view. These promotional differences have often stopped big fights from happening.

Both fighters have upcoming bouts. Stevenson will face William Zepeda on July 12, possibly his toughest test yet. Davis has a rematch with Lamont Roach on August 16, following their controversial draw in March.

If there's real will to make the Stevenson-Davis fight happen, we might see it by 2026. But Stevenson isn't waiting around:

"If he says I'm not who I say I am, then let him prove it. But do it in the ring, not in an exhibition show."

The ball's in Davis' court now. Will he step up to Stevenson's challenge? Or will he choose the exhibition route? Boxing fans are waiting to see what happens next.
