Canelo vs Crawford Bout Takes Unexpected Turn: "The Fans Deserve This"

The two champions faced off inside the ring at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Friday, September 12. But plans have changed. Mike Coppinger from X (formerly Twitter) shared the update.

Turki Alalshikh tells @ringmagazine he has decided the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford Riyadh Season super fight will take place Saturday, Sept. 13 rather than the day before.

The location's up in the air too. Alalshikh, who's organizing the event, says they'll pick the best deal from five potential sites. New York, L.A., and Las Vegas are all in the running. We'll know for sure in the coming weeks.

Fans have waited over a year for this fight. Crawford, usually a welterweight, will move up to 168lbs to challenge Canelo. It's a big jump, but Crawford's done it before. Last August, he beat Israil Madrimov and won the WBA super-welterweight title.

Canelo's coming in hot. He just became the undisputed super-middleweight champion earlier this month. He beat William Scull by unanimous decision and added the IBF belt to his WBC, WBA, and WBO titles.

The fight will be for the Ring Magazine super middleweight championship. It's part of the Riyadh Season and will air on pay-per-view. With less than four months to go, both fighters will be deep into their training camps.
