Terence Crawford and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez are set to face off on September 12 in Las Vegas. The fight brings together two undisputed champions from different weight divisions, making it a big deal for boxing fans.
Crawford, known as "Bud," is moving up two weight classes to take on Canelo. He's already the undisputed champion in three divisions and many people think he's the best pound-for-pound fighter out there. Canelo, on the other hand, holds all the belts in the super middleweight division. He's coming off a win against William Scull in Saudi Arabia, where he won by unanimous decision.
Tim Bradley, who used to box himself, thinks Crawford has a good shot. He said:
"I'm just saying Canelo couldn't handle that chicken (William Scull) he was up against. How the hell do you think he's going to catch Crawford?"
Bradley believes Crawford's style will give Canelo a hard time. He added that Crawford is "one of the best and most skillful fighters in boxing."
Frank Stea, who manages the Top Rank gym, also likes Crawford's chances. He said:
"It's time for Bud to step up. I like Crawford by knockout. I think he has the ability to overwhelm Canelo and force him to surrender, maybe in the corner, or even stop him, maybe even surprise us."
Crawford has been doing his homework. He watched Canelo's last fight closely and said:
"Canelo didn't drop the level, it was the merit of the style they presented to him."
Crawford plans to use his smarts to control the fight. He'll move around, control the ring, and switch up his style to keep Canelo guessing.
Even though Canelo is the favorite to win, Crawford is seen as a real threat. He can adapt quickly and switch guards, which could cause problems for Canelo. Canelo has had trouble with slippery fighters before, and he found it hard to deal with William Scull's movement and defense in his last fight.
This fight is about more than just winning. Both fighters are looking to add to their legacy. It's a big risk for Crawford, moving up in weight, but it could pay off big time if he wins.
