Canelo Names His Next Target After Crawford Bout: "I'm Better"

Alvarez just beat William Scull at the start of May in Riyadh. He won back his undisputed super-middleweight championship from the former IBF champ. This win set up his next fight with Crawford.

The two modern greats will face off on Friday, September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Turki Alalshikh from Riyadh Season confirmed the fight right after Canelo beat Scull.

But Canelo's not just thinking about Crawford. He's got his eye on a rematch with Dmitry Bivol at 175 pounds. Canelo wants to prove he's better than Bivol after losing to him before.

"I hope I have the opportunity to have the rematch with Bivol, that's the only fight at 175 I would really take but we'll see. I want to tell myself 'Hey, you learned something from that fight', what things you don't need to do again. I have that thing in myself which says 'Hey, you need to show that you're a better fighter than him'."

Canelo said this in an interview with The Ring Magazine.

Bivol, who's the same age as Canelo at 34, beat the Mexican star in 2022 to keep his WBA light-heavyweight title. Since then, the Russian fighter has become the undisputed champ at that weight by beating Artur Beterbiev. Now, Bivol's getting ready for a third fight with Beterbiev later this year.

For now, Canelo's focus is on Crawford. But it's clear he's got unfinished business with Bivol.
