Dana White Delivers Stark Message to Boxers: "The Money Stops When..."

Many fans and experts think boxing needs a big change. The new league will work like the UFC, with rankings and one champion in each weight class. A lot of people say this is exactly what boxing needs right now.

The launch comes after some disappointing fights in boxing. Canelo Alvarez's recent bout with William Scull got a lot of criticism. CompuBox ranked it as the fight with the fewest punches thrown in 12 rounds in the last 40 years. Fans complained that Scull just ran around the ring and Canelo didn't take any risks.

Now, all eyes are on Canelo's next fight against Terence Crawford on September 12th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Some worry that Crawford might play it safe and make for another boring match. But with Dana White running the show, that's not likely to happen.

White told ESPN Deportes:

"This is the biggest fight in history. Obviously I'm honored to promote it, but yeah. When they say we're promoting it, I'm in charge of the promotion, the production, the events, the publicity, I mean everything that has to do with the fight, just like the UFC fights."

White's not just focused on this one big fight. He's got a clear message for all boxers in his new league: you've got to fight to win, or you can say goodbye to the big paydays.

The same weekend as the Canelo-Crawford showdown, the UFC will put on its "UFC Noche" event in Canelo's hometown of Guadalajara. It's a busy time for White and his team.

Looking ahead, UFC 315 is set for May 10th, with Belal Muhammad taking on Jack Della Maddalena in the main event.

White and his partners want to bring excitement back to boxing. They're pushing for more action-packed fights. Boxers might need to change their style and be more aggressive if they want to keep earning big money in this new setup.
