Their first encounter in August 2023 ended with Usyk stopping Dubois in the ninth round. But the fight wasn't without controversy. Dubois thought he had dropped Usyk with a body shot, but the referee ruled it a low blow.
Now, with Usyk holding the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles, and Dubois the IBF strap, they'll run it back to settle the score once and for all.
Chris Eubank Jr, fresh off his win against Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, shared his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight clash. Speaking to Talksport, Eubank Jr expressed surprise at Usyk's alleged opinion on his recent fight:
"I saw something about Usyk saying that he thought Conor Benn won the fight. I don't know if this is true, I can't imagine that he watched that fight and thought that Conor Benn won. I landed twice as many punches, but people are telling me it's true."
Eubank Jr's shock didn't end there. He added:
"If that's the truth, then I'm rooting for Dubois because that's crazy. That's really crazy to me. I've met Usyk a bunch of times and we've always been cool so I was shocked to see that."
Turning his attention to the upcoming Usyk-Dubois rematch, Eubank Jr offered his analysis:
"Daniel Dubois is on a roll. He's coming off of a massive win against AJ. Usyk is also on a massive roll. I think it will come down to who's mentally more prepared to tough this fight out. I'm interested to see what happens."
Eubank Jr pointed out a key moment from their first fight that could play a role in the rematch:
"Usyk took a three minute break in that fight for a shot that some people say was low, some people say it wasn't, but he still took that break. Dubois crumbled under the pressure after that."
With both fighters at the top of their game and so much on the line, the July 19 showdown at Wembley Stadium promises to be a heavyweight clash for the ages. The boxing world waits with bated breath to see who will emerge as the undisputed king of the division.
