Eddy Reynoso, the trainer of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, has shared his vision for the boxing star's future. As Canelo gets ready to face William Scull in Saudi Arabia, Reynoso's looking ahead to what's next for the Mexican champion.
Reynoso wants to take Canelo's career global in its final stages. He's got his eyes on fights in Japan and England to boost Canelo's legacy and show off Mexican boxing to the world.
"I'd really like to go to Japan or England in this last stage of Saul's career," Reynoso said. "I think it'd be important, for his legacy, to offer his boxing there and put the name of Mexico high."
Reynoso's also thinking about who Canelo might fight next. He's interested in Chris Eubank Jr., who's 35 and just beat Conor Benn. Eubank fights at light heavyweight (175 pounds), and Reynoso thinks he'd be a good match for Canelo.
"Now that Chris Eubank Jr. had a great fight, we'd like him very much, he seems to us a good opponent," Reynoso shared.
Another name on the list is Dmitry Bivol. He beat Canelo in 2022, and there's talk of a rematch. They could fight at 168 or 175 pounds.
Canelo's had 66 fights over almost 20 years. He might be nearing the end of his career, but Reynoso and the 'Canelo Team' are taking it one fight at a time. They want to add to Canelo's legacy with more titles, tough opponents, and fights around the world.
It's clear Reynoso and Canelo are thinking big for the final chapter of the champion's career. They're not just looking at who to fight next, but where those fights might happen and how they'll add to Canelo's place in boxing history.
