Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr will finally face off in the ring on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The fight comes after a long wait and plenty of drama.
The two were set to meet in October 2022, but Benn tested positive for a banned substance. Since then, Benn fought to clear his name and had a couple of lower-level bouts in the US. Eubank Jr kept busy too. He got stopped by Liam Smith but knocked him out in a rematch six months later. He also stopped Kamil Szeremeta.
Former world champion Amir Khan thinks Eubank Jr has the edge. In an interview with Coin Casino, Khan said:
"I give it 60-40 to Eubank Jr because of the weight, height and size. But Eubank's not the biggest puncher, he's very technical."
Khan noted that Benn might pack more power, especially after putting on weight for this fight. He added:
"Conor Benn might be the bigger puncher. He's putting on weight, he looks explosive, he looks really dangerous. He's got that love back again."
Benn, with 23 wins and 14 knockouts, is moving up two weight classes for this bout. Khan thinks this could work in Benn's favor:
"If Conor starts fast and goes straight in, he could knock out Eubank early."
The fight has some interesting conditions. There's a rehydration clause that stops Eubank Jr from weighing more than 10 lbs over the limit on fight morning. Chris Eubank Sr called the fight "disgraceful" because of the weight disparity.
The stage is set for an explosive showdown between these two fighters from famous boxing families. Fans will be eager to see if Benn can overcome the size difference or if Eubank Jr's experience at the higher weight will prove too much.
