Derek Chisora thinks the upcoming fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn could end badly. The heavyweight boxer predicts one of them might need an ambulance after the match.
The fight between Eubank Jr and Benn is set to happen in a few weeks. It's a big deal because their dads, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, had some tough fights back in the 1990s. The two were supposed to fight in 2020, but it got called off when Benn tested positive for something he shouldn't have taken.
Eubank Jr, who's 35, usually fights at a higher weight than Benn. He's had some ups and downs lately. He lost to Liam Smith by knockout, but then beat him in a rematch six months later. His last fight was in October when he finished off Kamil Szeremeta early.
Benn, on the other hand, usually fights at 147 pounds. He's moving up to 160 pounds for this fight. He's had two fights in the USA recently, both of which he won on points.
Chisora talked to talkSPORT Boxing about the fight. He said:
"I love both fighters so I'm not going to say who's gonna win, cause I believe the loser will leave in an ambulance. I just want them to come out healthy and safe."
This is different from what Chisora said last year. Back then, he thought Benn should have a warm-up fight before taking on Eubank Jr.
The fight's already causing trouble. Eubank Jr and Benn have almost started fighting a few times while promoting the match. They even got into it on TV during an interview.
There's a rule for the fight that Eubank Jr can't gain more than 10 pounds overnight. This might make it harder for him since he's used to fighting at a higher weight.
Both fighters have a lot to prove. Eubank Jr wants to show he's still got it after his recent fights. Benn wants to prove he belongs at this higher weight class. With all this pressure, the fight's bound to be intense.
