Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez might face off in a big super-middleweight fight this September in Las Vegas. The bout will be for the undisputed championship at 168 pounds.
Mike Tyson doesn't think Crawford can win. He said three words about Crawford's chances: "Too much weight."
Crawford has done a lot in boxing. He's been the undisputed champ at super-lightweight and welterweight. He's also won world titles at 135 and 154 pounds. Last August, he got the WBA super-welterweight title. If he beats Canelo, he'll be undisputed champ in three weight classes.
Canelo holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO super-middleweight belts. He's set to fight William Scull for the IBF super-middleweight title in May 2024.
Tyson shared his thoughts on the It Is What It Is Podcast. He said:
"I don't like that fight. You know he had a close fight with the last guy he fought [Madrimov], because this guy was big and he was awkward, he shouldn't have fought that guy."
Tyson's comment refers to Crawford's recent fight against Israil Madrimov. He thinks that fight showed Crawford might struggle with bigger opponents.
ESPN reports that Crawford and Canelo will meet in a huge showdown in Las Vegas in September. It's shaping up to be one of the biggest fights in boxing history.
Crawford isn't stopping at Canelo. He's already thinking about another big fight after this one. Boxing fans will have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
