Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan are set to face off again in the ring. The two fighters will battle for the WBO welterweight title on March 29, 2025, at the BleauLive Theater in Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
The rematch comes after their intense and close fight on September 27 in New York. Mayer won that bout by majority decision, but the victory didn't come easy. The fight was so tight that it left fans and experts eager for a second showdown.
Before their first encounter, things got heated between the boxers. They traded words back and forth, and there were even accusations of assaults outside the ring. To make matters worse, Mayer claimed Ryan stole one of her trainers. All this drama added fuel to an already fiery rivalry.
ESPN and ESPN Plus will broadcast the event, which starts at 8:00 PM ET. The main event, scheduled for 10 rounds, will likely begin around 10:00 PM ET.
"I'm ready to prove once and for all that I'm the better fighter," Mayer said at a press conference. "This time, I'll leave no doubt in anyone's mind."
Ryan responded with equal determination:
"The judges got it wrong last time. I won that fight, and I'll prove it in the rematch. Mayer better be ready for war."
The undercard also features some exciting matchups. Brian Norman Jr. and Derrieck Cuevas will compete for the WBO welterweight title. In the featherweight division, Bruce Carrington will take on Jose Enrique Vivas. Emiliano Fernando Vargas and Giovannie Gonzalez round out the card with their bout.
Boxing fans on the West Coast can tune in at 7:00 PM PT, while those in the Central time zone can catch the action at 8:00 PM CT.
With the bad blood between Mayer and Ryan, and the title on the line, this rematch promises to deliver an unforgettable night of boxing action.
