Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez has shared his surprising fasting routine. The Mexican boxing champion told content creator Paulo Chavira he goes without food for up to three days as part of his nutritional regimen.
Canelo, who holds a record of 62 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws with 39 knockouts, explained his current fast.
"Right now, I've been fasting for almost two days. Just water and black coffee. Tonight at 9, I'll have completed two days. I haven't eaten anything, just water. And I'm going to do three days, let it be 48 hours."
The super middleweight champion, who weighs in at 168 pounds, keeps a strict diet even when he's not fasting. He eats a very light dinner with no carbs or fats, considering it a crucial meal in his routine.
Canelo's dedication to his diet and training has helped him become the first Mexican and Latin American to hold all the belts in the 168-pound division. He achieved this feat by defeating Caleb Plant.
The champion is getting ready for his next fight in May against William Scull. At a recent press conference to promote the event, Canelo took part in an unusual activity. A DAZN reporter mentioned various boxers' names, and Canelo punched the reporter's stomach if he thought they were better than him.
Canelo threw his first punch when Dmitry Bivol's name came up. He admitted, "That night he was better than me." He landed more punches for Usyk, Roberto Durán, and Floyd Mayweather, saying, "At that time, they were better than me." The final punch came after Muhammad Ali's name, acknowledging him as one of the all-time greats.
Canelo's honest responses and unique training methods show why he remains one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Fans will watch closely to see how his strict regimen pays off in his upcoming fight.
