World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman knows this, as he recently stated that Fury, despite two straight losses, would be immediately accepted as an opponent for Agit Cabayel (26-0, 18 KOs). The German Turk is the holder of the WBC interim heavyweight belt. He won it with an early sixth-round submission win over Zhang Zhilei last month.
"We will definitely not push for a mandatory defense of Usyk right now. We have always tried to support our fighters in their quest for a full unification and I think the IBF made a terrible decision to strip him of his belt. Cabayel owns our interim belt and can defend it against Joshua, Wilder and even Fury. Tyson has retired, but if he wants to come back, we would be open to that option and would be willing to let him fight. So we will definitely give our consent to that," Suleiman stated.
