Devin Haney Gives Surprising Scorecard for Davis-Roach Bout: "My Eyes Don't Lie"

The match's turning point came in the ninth round when Davis took a knee. Referee Steve Willis didn't call it a knockdown. If he had, Roach would have likely walked away with the title.

Davis said he paused because grease from his hair got in his eyes. He's now asking for a rematch right away.

Former undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney shared his thoughts on the fight. He told YouTube:

"I thought it was a good fight overall. I always knew Lamont wasn't coming to lay down. I've been knowing Lamont since we were kids, we came up in the amateurs together, so I knew he was serious and coming to fight. But he did a lot better than I thought he would and I thought he won the fight, personally."

Haney was shocked by the referee's decision not to count the ninth-round incident as a knockdown. He said:

"The no knockdown… That was unheard of. It's the first time I've ever seen it with my own two eyes."

Haney's view lines up with what most people in boxing are saying about the fight.

The controversy around the missed knockdown has led to calls for a rematch. There's a chance the WBA will order Davis to fight Roach again.

While this drama unfolds, Haney is getting ready for his own big fight. He'll make his welterweight debut against Jose Ramirez on May 2.
