Daniel Dubois, the IBF Heavyweight World Champion, faces a big decision for his next fight. The British boxer, known as 'DDD', has two options on the table after getting over a viral infection.
Dubois could reschedule his voluntary defense against Joseph Parker. The fight was set for January but got called off when Dubois fell ill. Many fans think Parker deserves this chance, especially after his quick win over Martin Bakole inside two rounds.
Or Dubois could go after a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, the unified heavyweight champ. They fought last summer in Poland, where Dubois lost by knockout in the 9th round. But he did knock Usyk down, though the ref called it a low blow.
Dubois has been on a roll lately. He knocked out Jarrell Miller in December and stopped Filip Hrgovic after taking some big shots early on. These wins led to him becoming the full IBF champ. He even knocked out Anthony Joshua in a title defense last September.
His dad, Stan Dubois, seems to have made up his mind about what's next. He told Ring Magazine:
"Next, he wants Usyk, it's frustrating about the Parker fight but he couldn't fight with an infection. Usyk is who we're going after next."
It looks like Team Dubois wants to aim high and try to become the undisputed heavyweight king. But they'll need to make it official soon. Fans will be eager to see if Dubois can improve on his first showing against the skilled Ukrainian, who was once the undisputed cruiserweight champ.
Whatever Dubois decides, his next fight will be a big test. He's proven he can take on tough opponents and come out on top. Now, he'll have to choose between giving Parker his shot or going for glory against Usyk.
