Stevenson, who holds a perfect 23-0 record since turning pro in 2017, recently defended his WBC title with a 9th round stoppage victory over late replacement opponent Josh Padley. The champion's performance didn't seem to impress Davis, who holds the WBA lightweight title.

In an interview on The Ring Magazine Podcast, Stevenson had this to say about Davis:

"I think he's a tremendous fighter, I think his boxing ability is insane, his boxing IQ, footwork, power, the way he sets up shots, I love his boxing style."

Despite the high praise, Stevenson didn't hold back in asserting his own superiority. He claimed Davis can't beat him and stated he's "way better" than the Baltimore native. Stevenson suggested they need to fight to prove it.

Davis, known as 'Tank', has cemented his status as one of the best active fighters at 135lbs. He boasts an impressive 30-0 record with 28 knockouts. The 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, is set to defend his WBA title against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 at the Barclays Center in New York City.

Rumors have swirled about Davis potentially retiring in 2025, with some speculating he's growing tired of the sport. However, Davis has since clarified his stance on these retirement talks.

A showdown between the two undefeated champions would certainly settle the debate. For now, fight fans will have to wait and see if this exciting matchup materializes in the future.
