Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are getting ready for a big fight in Las Vegas this September. The two champions will battle it out for Canelo's unified WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight titles.
Oscar De La Hoya, the former six-weight world champion and now promoter, thinks Canelo will win. In a chat with FightHype, 'The Golden Boy' said:
"Look, fighter versus fighter and talent, obviously Crawford is the craftier boxer but Canelo has the size, he has the power and it's like [Bob] Arum said he'll run right through him."
De La Hoya worked with Canelo early in his career and knows his skills well. He believes the fight will be one-sided for about seven rounds. After that, he expects Canelo to turn up the heat.
"Canelo starts attacking, attacking, he starts to take it to deep waters. The power will eventually be too much."
Before this big showdown, Canelo has another fight coming up. On May 3, he'll face William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the IBF super middleweight title. If he wins, he'll be the undisputed champion in the division again.
Crawford, known as 'Bud', is coming off a win against Israil Madrimov for the WBA light middleweight title. The fight was over a year ago, and some say Crawford didn't look his best. But now, at 37, he's aiming to become a five-division world champion.
Even though De La Hoya thinks Canelo will win, he's sure the fight will be worth watching. "Will it be a great fight? Absolutely. Will it be a huge event? Absolutely," he said.
The boxing world is buzzing about this match-up. Fans can't wait to see if Canelo's power or Crawford's skills will come out on top when they finally meet in the ring.
