This wasn't the first time Usyk and Fury fought. Just seven months earlier, Usyk won their first match by split decision. That win made him the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the era of four belts, as he added Fury's WBC title to his collection.
Before facing Fury again, Usyk had another fight in August 2023. He took on Daniel Dubois, a young British boxer known as "Dynamite". During that fight, something interesting happened in the fifth round. Dubois hit Usyk with a body shot that dropped him, but the referee called it a low blow. Usyk ended up winning that fight too, stopping Dubois in the ninth round.
After Usyk's latest win over Fury, Dubois showed he wants another shot at the champion. He even jumped into the ring after the fight to make his point. But Usyk doesn't seem impressed by Dubois' recent performances.
"No,"
Usyk said when asked if Dubois had improved since their fight. He added:
"I think Daniel win [against Joshua], it's a fact, but I think maybe Joshua have problems with [preparation]."
Usyk made these comments in an interview with Sky Sports Boxing. He was talking about Dubois' recent win over Anthony Joshua.
While Usyk looks for his next opponent, Dubois isn't sitting still. He'll defend his IBF title for the second time on February 22 in Riyadh. His opponent will be Parker, and it'll be interesting to see if a win there could lead to another shot at Usyk.
For now, Usyk stands tall as the king of the heavyweight division. At 38 years old, he's proved he can beat the best, including the man many thought was unbeatable, Tyson Fury. It'll be exciting to see what's next for this Ukrainian champion.
