Shannon Briggs, the former world heavyweight champion, has called out Deontay Wilder after announcing his comeback from a nine-year break. The 53-year-old, known as "The Cannon," wants to fight Wilder in Alabama when the former WBC champion returns to the ring.

Wilder, 39, has been out of action since June last year. The "Bronze Bomber" suffered a tough loss when Zhilei "Big Bang" Zhang knocked him out in the fifth round. That defeat came on the heels of another loss to Joseph Parker, leaving fans wondering about Wilder's future in the sport.

But Wilder isn't ready to hang up his gloves just yet. He's planning a comeback, with his return expected in April or May this year. That's caught the attention of Briggs, who sees an opportunity for a big fight.

In an interview with FightHub TV, Briggs said:

"I would like to fight him, I think it would be a great fight in Alabama when he comes back."

Briggs hasn't fought since 2016 when he knocked out Emilio Zarate in the first round in London. But he claims he's never really been out of the game.

"I never really retired, they just won't fight me. I'm going to fight in March so if he wants to go, we can go."

The veteran heavyweight has a history of calling out both active and inactive fighters, including Ukrainian legend Wladimir Klitschko, who's also considering a return to the ring.

Will Wilder take up Briggs' challenge? Or will he look for a different opponent for his comeback fight? The heavyweight division is full of possibilities, and fans will be watching closely to see what happens next.
