Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez are set to face off in a big fight. The two boxing stars have reportedly agreed to meet in September 2025 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The deal took months to put together. Turki Alalshikh of Riyadh Season oversaw the negotiations. It's a huge clash between two of the best fighters in the world, with Crawford moving up two weight divisions to challenge Canelo.
Crawford, known as 'Bud', wants to become a five-weight world champion. He's already won titles in four divisions. Recently, he beat Israil Madrimov to grab the WBA super-welterweight title.
Canelo, who's 34, holds three of the four major titles at super middleweight. He's the unified WBC, WBA, and WBO champion at 168 pounds. The IBF stripped him of their belt last year.
Canelo became the undisputed champion in 2021 when he beat Caleb Plant. He's also got big wins over Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo, and Jaime Munguia.
Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson isn't sure about this matchup. In an interview with K9 Boxing, 'Iron' Mike shared his thoughts:
"I don't like that fight. Too much weight, you know he had a close fight with the last guy he fought [Madrimov], because this guy was big and he was awkward, he shouldn't have fought that guy."
The fight was first planned for May 2025 but got pushed back to September. We'll likely get an official announcement in the next few weeks.
