Lewis had his fair share of comebacks in the ring. He lost to Oliver McCall in 1994 but won their rematch in 1997. The same happened with Hasim Rahman in 2001 - Lewis lost the first fight but came back to win the rematch and reclaim his heavyweight titles later that year.
Dubois has been on a roll lately. He's stopped Jarrell Miller, Fillip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. He won the IBF world title and has already defended it. This string of wins comes after his loss to Usyk in August 2023, where he was stopped in the 9th round. That fight had its share of drama when Dubois knocked Usyk down, but it was ruled an illegal low blow.
Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion, has been busy too. He gave up his IBF world title to fight Tyson Fury again and won that second contest.
After Usyk beat Fury, Dubois jumped in the ring to challenge him for a rematch. Lewis shared his thoughts on this potential fight in an interview with BoxNation.
"He fares well," Lewis said about Dubois. "He's pretty positive right now and the next goal is he wants to be undisputed champion."
Usyk has said he's up for fighting Dubois again. But before any rematch happens, Dubois has other business to take care of. He's set to defend his IBF world title against Joseph Parker on February 22.
With Dubois' recent success and growing confidence, the heavyweight division is getting more interesting. A rematch with Usyk could be a big test for Dubois, and Lewis seems to think he's ready for it.
