Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are set to face off in London this April, 27 months after their original fight fell through. The bout, dubbed "Fatal Fury City of the Wolves," will bring the rivalry started by their fathers in the 1990s to a new generation.
Turki Alalshikh, the new owner of Ring Magazine, made the announcement on social media. He's pushing for a pay-per-view price of £19.99 to make the event more accessible to fans.
"Eubank Jr vs Benn done in April, London, by the name of (Fatal Fury City of the Wolves). Soon I will announce the day and the location, it will be The Ring's first card in collaboration with the video game and SNK, and I will push to make PPV price 19.99 GBP for the fans, with tough undercard… Let's get boxing great again and wait for huge announcement soon."
ESPN reports the fight will take place on April 26. The event is a collaboration with SNK, tying in with their "Fatal Fury" video game series.
The bout was originally scheduled for October 2022 but got canceled when Benn failed a voluntary anti-doping test. Since then, Benn has fought twice in the United States and had his UK suspension lifted in late 2023.
Eubank Jr comes into the fight after a rollercoaster year. He lost to Liam Smith by stoppage, won the rematch with an early finish, and then beat Kamil Szeremeta by TKO in October 2023.
The road to this announcement wasn't smooth. The teams struggled to agree on the purse split at first. They eventually reached an agreement and moved on to iron out the finer details.
Eubank Jr has publicly shared his dislike for a rehydration restriction for the middleweight bout. This could be a point of contention as the fight approaches.
Alalshikh promises a tough undercard to complement the main event. Fans can expect an official announcement and press conference in the coming weeks.
The fight marks a significant moment for both boxers. For 28-year-old Benn, it's a chance to prove himself after the controversy surrounding his failed drug test. For Eubank Jr, it's an opportunity to solidify his standing in the middleweight division.
This long-awaited clash will finally give boxing fans the chance to see which fighter can live up to their father's legacy in the ring.
