Canelo's Former Rival's Trainer Drops One-Word Bombshell on Crawford Fight: "Unthinkable"

Julius Julianis from ESPN Deportes shared the news, saying sources close to the deal told him about the agreement. The fight would happen at 168lbs, which means Crawford would need to move up two weight classes.

Crawford just won the WBA super-welterweight title at 154lbs against Israil Madrimov. He'd have to jump up another 14lbs to meet Canelo at his usual fighting weight.

Not everyone thinks this is a good idea. Abel Sanchez, who used to train Gennady Golovkin, told KO Artist Sports he's not a fan of the match-up.

"It's a ridiculous fight because, I said it a while ago, Crawford is a great fighter but he's been the same fighter from 135 to 147, he's still the same fighter, he hasn't changed anything to make him viable at the bigger weights, but Canelo has."

Sanchez pointed out that while Crawford is skilled, he hasn't been dominating opponents like Canelo has at higher weights.

"Crawford hasn't been destroying his opponents, he destroyed one who was a shell of his former self, but Canelo is destroying everybody that he fights, destroying them, but Crawford's not. Yes, it's a good money fight but not a real fight."

Canelo has experience with big fights against smaller opponents. He fought Gennady Golovkin three times, drawing the first and winning the next two. Their trilogy became one of boxing's most talked-about rivalries.

Now, fans are waiting to hear if Canelo vs Crawford will really happen. It would bring together two of boxing's biggest names, but the weight difference makes it an unusual match-up.
