Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is open to fighting Terence Crawford, but he's not shy about calling it "easy money." The Mexican superstar shared his thoughts on a potential bout with the four-weight champion in a recent interview.
Canelo told Sway's Universe:
"I'm in. Why not? Don't get me wrong, he's a great fighter but for me, in my weight class, it's an easy fight. Easy money."
The idea of this match-up has been floating around since Crawford dominated Errol Spence Jr in their welterweight undisputed fight last year. At first, Canelo wasn't interested, saying he wouldn't get credit for beating a smaller fighter.
But now, it looks like money could change his mind. Canelo explained:
"If the money is right, I'm in, because I don't like to fight guys like Crawford because he moves a lot and the fight is not that great, I saw in his last fight and he don't move that much now. So if the money is right I'm in right now … there are weight classes for a reason."
Crawford, now 37, has shown he's still at the top of his game. He just beat Israil Madrimov for the WBA belt at super-welterweight. But to face Canelo, he'd need to jump up two more weight divisions.
Many boxing experts think this weight difference might be too much for Crawford. But with both fighters showing interest, fans might just get to see if Crawford can overcome the odds against the confident Canelo.
