Gervonta Davis doesn't like Mike Tyson's recent fight with Jake Paul. The lightweight champ thinks the 58-year-old former heavyweight king hurt his legacy by stepping back in the ring.
Davis has built quite a career himself. He's won world titles in three weight classes and has been the WBA lightweight champ for a while now. He's beaten top fighters like Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero, and Frank Martin.
Davis will defend his title against Lamont Roach in March. But he took some time to share his thoughts on Tyson's fight with Paul last November.
"Why did he even want to fight him? Who told Mike Tyson to fight anyway?"
When asked if the fight hurt Tyson's legacy, Davis didn't hold back:
"Yeah, it did. It definitely did."
Tyson's fight with Paul was his first in nearly 20 years. At 58, he looked nothing like the fearsome boxer who became the youngest heavyweight champ ever. Paul won by unanimous decision, and many in boxing criticized the matchup.
After the loss, Tyson said he'll stay retired. As for Davis, he plans to hang up his gloves this year too. But before that, he's got his eye on one last dream fight.
