Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury again, and Daniel Dubois thinks he deserved the win. The two heavyweights fought for the second time in Saudi Arabia at the end of December 2024.
Usyk won by unanimous decision. All three judges scored it 116-112 in his favor. He landed more clean shots and kept the pressure on Fury throughout the fight.
Daniel Dubois, who watched the fight closely, shared his thoughts on BoxNation.
"I thought it was a close fight. [Usyk] edged it though on the last couple of rounds. It was a close fight between two top guys, but I think he edged it."
This rematch followed their first close contest where Usyk became the four-belt ruler. Before that fight, both men were unbeaten. Usyk's win cemented his place as one of the best fighters of all time. He'd already been the undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018 and beaten Anthony Joshua twice.
Dubois has his own history with Usyk. He lost to the Ukrainian by stoppage in August 2023. But now Dubois holds the IBF belt that Usyk gave up in mid-2024.
The British fighter stormed the ring after Usyk's latest win to call him out. He wants another shot at the champion to avenge his loss.
First, Dubois must beat Joseph Parker on February 22. If he wins, he could get a second undisputed fight against Usyk in just over a year.
