Daniel Dubois wants another shot at Oleksandr Usyk after their first fight in August 2023. The British heavyweight is eager to settle the score following their controversial bout in Poland.
Usyk outboxed Dubois for most of the fight, even scoring a knockdown in the eighth round before stopping him in the ninth. But a low blow incident in the fifth round left fans and Dubois' team crying foul.
Since then, Usyk has become the undisputed heavyweight champion by beating Tyson Fury. He gave up the IBF belt to honor a rematch with Dubois, who went on to win that vacant title.
Dubois recently defended his IBF strap with a stunning fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua. That performance caught the eye of fellow British boxer Chris Eubank Jr.
"With that type of performance, I think he could [beat Usyk]. I didn't see that Dubois against Usyk. If that Dubois fought Usyk then there would've been a different outcome."
Eubank Jr shared these thoughts with Mail Sport Boxing after watching Dubois' impressive win over Joshua.
Dubois hasn't been shy about wanting another crack at Usyk. He even jumped into the ring after Usyk's second win over Fury, claiming he was "robbed" in their first fight. Some critics felt he was taking the spotlight and overlooking his upcoming fight with Joseph Parker.
That bout with Parker is set for February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If Dubois wins, he might get his wish for a rematch with Usyk, who has verbally agreed to the fight.
For Usyk, it's a chance to become a two-time undisputed champion in the division. But many fans think the Ukrainian should consider retiring on top after his recent achievements.
