Garcia won't return to boxing until 2025. He's currently serving a one-year ban after his fight with Devin Haney in April. Garcia initially won on points, but the result changed to a no contest when he failed two doping tests during fight week. The New York State Athletic Commission suspended him as a result.
When Garcia comes back, he wants a big fight. Jake Paul is on his radar, especially after Paul's controversial win over Mike Tyson. Before that fight, Garcia said he'd try to defend Tyson's honor.
Now, Garcia's willing to bulk up for a shot at Paul. He told Ariel Helwani:
"185 [the weight for the fight]. I'm 165, 170 now. I would have to eat a lot, but I'd do it."
Garcia doesn't think the size difference will be a problem. He's confident in his skills:
"I really think that they genuinely think that I'm probably too small, but skills pay the bills. You see Floyd when he fought Logan, Logan was way bigger than I am. I think I can do the same thing. It would be huge."
Garcia predicts he'll finish Paul quickly if the fight happens:
"Everywhere I go people ask me to fight Jake Paul, I've got to give the people what they want. If Jake fights the way he fought Mike, I genuinely believe I would knock him out within four or five rounds."
Paul's list of potential opponents keeps growing. Former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr says he's been approached about facing 'The Problem Child' too.
