Lennox Lewis, the former heavyweight champion, thinks a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua would only work out well for Fury. Lewis shared his thoughts on this potential matchup between two British heavyweights recently.

Lewis knows a thing or two about big fights. He was the undisputed heavyweight champion and faced many tough opponents during his career. But he had plenty of adversity in his career before achieving that feat, including two shock defeats when he was stopped by huge underdogs.

In September 1994, Lewis lost his WBC heavyweight title to Oliver McCall via a second-round TKO at Wembley Arena in London. He also lost his WBC, IBF, and IBO belts to Hasim Rahman in a fifth-round knockout in Brakpan, South Africa. But Lewis showed his champion's mentality by coming back and beating both McCall and Rahman in rematches.

Now, Lewis is looking at the current heavyweight scene. Anthony Joshua got knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September. He's got to decide if he wants a rematch with Dubois or if he'll try to set up a fight with Tyson Fury. Meanwhile, Fury is getting ready to face Oleksandr Usyk in December. That fight will be for three of the four major world titles.

In an interview with Boxing News, Lewis shared his thoughts on a potential Fury-Joshua fight:

"Any fight where you have two British fighters is a great fight. It's always a great promotion. It always brings in the streets, who the country likes the best, and I say that if Anthony Joshua fights Tyson Fury it'd be a great fight but you know, would it be a great fight for Anthony Joshua? It would be probably a great fight for Tyson Fury, but would it be great for Anthony Joshua?"

Lewis thinks the fight would be good for British boxing, but he's not sure it's the right move for Joshua. He believes Fury would benefit more from the matchup.

It's worth noting that Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion in May. A fight between Fury and Joshua would still be a big deal for British boxing fans, even if neither holds all the titles right now.
