Gervonta Davis Names His Most Formidable Opponent: "He's Different From The Rest"

In a recent chat with Cigar Talk, Davis didn't mince words about Stevenson's abilities. He said:

"Hell no that's not my hardest fight. Why would it be? Show me something that he did spectacular, show me something that he did outrageous, show me. His power is not outrageous."

Davis didn't stop there. He took aim at Stevenson's defensive skills, which many boxing fans rate highly:

"What defence? He just jumps back, you never see him slip no punches you just see him back up from a lot of people, back up, move around, move around, he ain't got no technique."

The Baltimore native even claimed he's already got Stevenson's number, referencing a sparring session:

"Easy work, I touched him with 16 ounce gloves on and he ran, imagine if I hit him with 8 ounce gloves."

Davis is coming off a stoppage win over Frank Martin in June, adding to his impressive list of victories. He's set to face Lamont Roach in December, but fans are already speculating about future matchups with other champions.

Surprisingly, when asked about his toughest potential opponent in an interview with Boxing News, Davis didn't name any current fighters. Instead, he picked Floyd Mayweather, simply stating, "Mayweather."

It's an interesting choice, given that Mayweather hasn't fought professionally in over 7 years, though he's dabbled in exhibition bouts. The pick is even more intriguing considering the strained relationship between Davis and Mayweather following their promotional split in recent years.

As the lightweight division heats up, fans will keep a close eye on Davis's next moves. Will he face Stevenson and prove his words right? Or will another challenger step up to test the undefeated champion? Only time will tell.
