Roy Jones Jr. Picks Between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson: "It's Not Even Close"

Gervonta Davis got a big nod from boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. Jones says Davis is a better fighter than Shakur Stevenson, even though both are top dogs at 135lbs.

Davis holds the WBA lightweight belt and has a perfect record of 30 wins, no losses. He's knocked out 28 of those opponents, showing why he's seen as one of the hardest hitters in boxing today. His big wins include beating Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Rolly Romero, and Frank Martin.

Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champ, is also unbeaten with 22 wins since he started boxing pro in 2017. He's beaten some tough guys like Oscar Valdez, Jamel Herring, and Artem Harutyunyan.

But Jones thinks Davis has the edge. He explained why in a recent video:

"I'll tell you why he's the best fighter to me. He can punch, but he also can box. Some that can box can't punch, some that can punch can't box. He can box, he can punch, he can move laterally, he can move left side, right side, he can do whatever he needs to do as a southpaw to get the job done. That's saying a lot as not many guys can do that today."

Jones points out that Davis isn't just about power. He's got the boxing skills to match. Only Isaac Cruz has managed to go all 12 rounds with Davis in a world title fight.

Stevenson is known for his boxing skills, but Jones thinks Davis has the full package. Both power and skill make Davis stand out in Jones' eyes.

Other boxing experts have weighed in too. Teddy Atlas has given his thoughts on how a fight between Davis and Stevenson might go, but we don't know the details of his prediction.

For now, it looks like Davis has won over one of boxing's greats with his mix of knockout power and slick boxing moves.
