Oscar De La Hoya says he'd have no trouble beating Canelo Alvarez if they fought when De La Hoya was at his best. The retired middleweight world champion made this bold claim recently, adding fuel to the ongoing feud between the two boxing stars.

De La Hoya, who won world titles in six different weight classes during his career, didn't hold back when talking about how a fight with Canelo would've gone down. He told Fight Hub TV:

"Canelo? Come on. In my prime I would have tapped that a** so good. Easy, quick. Easy work. He's flat footed. He walks on quick sand."

These comments come as no surprise given the rocky relationship between De La Hoya and Alvarez. The two used to work together, with De La Hoya promoting Canelo's fights. But things went south in 2020 when they parted ways.

The bad blood between them was on full display earlier this year. They had to be kept apart during a press conference for Alvarez's fight against Jaime Munguia. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Canelo Alvarez is one of boxing's biggest names right now. He's the undisputed champion at super-middleweight and has been part of some of the biggest pay-per-view events in boxing history. But even with all his success, he still gets his fair share of criticism.

Some fans think there are fighters out there who could give Canelo a run for his money. David Benavidez, for example, has been trying to get a shot at Alvarez for a couple of years now.

De La Hoya ended his career with an impressive 39 wins and 6 losses. He's been keeping busy lately, even taking shots at one of his old title fight opponents. But his latest comments about Canelo show that some rivalries never die, even after retirement.
