Jarrell Miller Delivers Blunt Verdict on Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua: "One of Them Is Done"

None

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder might finally face each other in the ring. The fight, once viewed as a clash for heavyweight supremacy, has become a battle for survival after both fighters suffered recent losses.

Wilder's career has taken a hit lately. He lost to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, which sent him tumbling down the heavyweight rankings. These defeats even led him to think about hanging up his gloves. Joshua, on the other hand, got knocked out by Daniel Dubois in five rounds, dashing his hopes of becoming a three-time world champion.

Despite these setbacks, Jarrell Miller believes Joshua would come out on top if the two were to fight. In a recent interview, Miller shared his thoughts on the potential matchup:

"Yeah I think an AJ and Deontay fight would definitely be interesting still. I think I would pick AJ in that fight, only because he will let the right hand go and Deontay hasn't been letting his right hand go. I think they're still both gun-shy but I favour AJ just a little bit because he has a good jab when he lets it go, he has a good right hand, he has sneaky uppercuts."

Miller points out that both fighters seem hesitant to engage, but he gives Joshua the edge due to his wider range of skills. He praises Joshua's jab, right hand, and uppercuts when the British fighter uses them effectively.

When it comes to Wilder, Miller doesn't pull any punches in his assessment:

"Deontay doesn't have no frigging boxing fundamentals. He's a wild man. The sad part about it is the wilder Deontay Wilder is the better it serves him. He needs to stick to that thing. The minute Malik Scott started teaching him to box, he started getting f***ed up … Teaching him how to box now against superior boxers is the worst thing they could've did to him."

Miller argues that Wilder's recent attempts to refine his boxing technique have backfired. He believes Wilder's wild, unpredictable style suited him better and that trying to box conventionally against more skilled opponents has hurt his performance.

Wilder's recent losses have hit him hard, leading to speculation about his future in the sport. For both him and Joshua, this fight could be crucial in determining their paths forward in the heavyweight division.
