On Boxing Night in Auckland, New Zealand, heavyweight prospect David Nyika (10-0, 9 KOs) defeated Tommy Karpency (31-9-1, 19 KOs) early. Carpency stepped in to replace Blake Caparello, who was found to be doping, nine days before the scheduled date. And it showed in the ring.

Carpensi started sharply and quickly deflated, especially since the New Zealander attacked from the beginning with a left hook to the liver area. Having won two rounds, in the third Nyika finally broke his opponent and after two knockdowns the fight was stopped.

Also on this night heavyweight Hemi Ahio (23-1, 17 KOs) defeated Faiga Opelu (16-6-2, 12 KOs) by split decision and thus got even for his only loss in his career. After ten rounds, the judges scored the bout in his favor with scores of 96-94, 94-96 and 99-91.

Also, Alex Leapai Jr. (3-0, 2 KOs), the son of a former world title challenger in the king category, knocked pro debutant Manusiu Feao out of the ropes with a right uppercut in the second round.
