Frank Bruno thinks a young Mike Tyson would beat Tyson Fury in a fight. The former world champion shared his view on this dream matchup between two heavyweight greats from different eras.
Bruno said Tyson at his best was a force to be reckoned with. He explained his opinion in an interview with The Business Excellence Channel:
"Mike Tyson when he was 19, 20 he was a dangerous individual. Both of them at their peak, I'm sorry, Mike Tyson. I like Tyson Fury, he would give him a run for his money here and there but Mike Tyson, 20, 21, 22, he was a dangerous human being. But it ain't gonna be easy for small Tyson cause big Tyson would be using his weight. But I think Mike Tyson's combinations would be a bit fast for him."
Bruno's view puts the spotlight on how boxing has changed over time. Today's heavyweights are often much bigger than those from the last century. Fury is one of the tallest men ever to win a world title. He's known for his wide range of skills, strong defense, and smooth footwork despite his size.
On the other hand, Tyson was one of the shortest men to ever lift a heavyweight belt. He won his first world title at just 20 years old. Tyson knocked out his first 19 opponents inside six rounds and had a scary presence in the ring.
Bruno thinks Fury would use his size to his advantage. But he believes Tyson's quick combinations would be too much for the bigger man to handle.
Right now, both fighters have matches coming up. Fury will face Oleksandr Usyk again in December after losing to him for the first time in May. Tyson is making a surprise return to the ring after 19 years away from professional boxing. He'll fight Jake Paul in November.
