Turki Alalshikh Drops Bombshell About Canelo's Stance on Crawford Fight: "He Told Me..."

Turki Alalshikh has opened up about talks with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, hinting at a possible fight with Terence Crawford down the line.

Crawford recently moved up from welterweight to super-welterweight and became a four-division world champion. This step brings him closer to the super-middleweight division, where Canelo holds three of the four major belts.

Alalshikh revealed he'd been in talks with Canelo for about four months to set up a big fight. But things got rocky when Canelo made a statement about Riyadh Season.

"We were talking with Canelo for a long time, around four months to do a big fight with him. What bothered me was when he announced that he respects me but he doesn't like what Riyadh Season is doing to boxing, after that I responded with what I responded and he sent an indirect message to me by someone and said 'no I am respecting you but there was a situation between me and Eddie when we talk and I don't like the way Eddie talking to me'. Then I said it is not my responsibility is something happen between you and someone else, why get me inside this."

Despite the bump in the road, Alalshikh hasn't closed the door on working with Canelo. He's open to big fights and wants to see Canelo take on Crawford or David Benavidez.

"We want to do the big fights. My door is open to all the fighters, so let's see, he sent to me an indirect message that he wants to connect after the fight, but I don't know if this is real message or not. It is nothing personal it is business. I'd like to see the fight against Crawford, I'd like to see the fight against Benavidez."

Canelo's got a fight with Edgar Berlanga coming up on September 14. After that, he might reconsider a bout with Crawford. The initial date proposed was February 2025, but Canelo's made it clear he'll consider any offer if the money's right.

As for Crawford, Alalshikh thinks he's only got eyes for Canelo right now.

"I don't think Crawford will fight anyone except Canelo. This is my opinion. This is what I feel, but it is about him. We gave him an offer for [Vergil] Ortiz and I don't know if he will take it or not … I think he only wants Canelo."

Alalshikh's team offered Crawford a fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr at super-welterweight, but he'll likely turn it down. It looks like Crawford's holding out for the big one with Canelo.
