Teofimo Lopez Sr. Teofimo Lopez, the father and trainer of WBO Welterweight Champion Teofimo Lopez, commented on Terence Crawford's performance in his fight with Israil Madrimov.
"Terrible performance, just terrible. If Terence had fought my son that night, he would have destroyed him. The speed kills. I think the fight with Errol Spence was a fluke and I knew it.
I'm not crazy. Look, Crawford is probably the best fighter in the world right now, the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, like Lomachenko or Josh Taylor back in the day. My son is a two-time lineal world champion, but Crawford pretends he doesn't deserve to fight him. Why? You know what I'm saying? My son is the king of the welterweight division right now. We're going up to the welterweight division to try to fight this guy. If he doesn't want to fight us there, we'll do it at fucking interim featherweight," Lopez Sr. said in an interview with YouTube channel Fight Hub TV.
Recall that Crawford defeated Madrimov by unanimous decision of the judges on August 3.
