Mauricio Sulaiman said the World Boxing Council (WBC) would be willing to give its approval for a world bantamweight title fight between Lawrence Okolie (20-1, 15 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) if requested by both boxers' representatives.

Okolie has held the World Boxing Council belt since May with a weight limit of 101 kilograms. The Briton took the title in his last fight against Lukasz Ruzanski of Poland.

Wilder previously boxed in the heavyweight division, where he was world champion for five years. In his last two professional appearances, "The Bronze Bomber" lost. The last time was in June to Zhang Zhilei early in the fifth round.
