Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has lost his WBC super flyweight belt. The World Boxing Council gave the American the status of "retired champion". Last week, the promoter organization Top Rank won the bid for the fight between Haney and Sandor Martin. The winning bid was $2.42 million dollars. Haney would have earned most of that amount, but he didn't want to box under Bob Arum's banners.

The U.S. boxer won the WBC belt in December but never defended it. In April, he lost on points to Ryan Garcia, but the result was annulled after his opponent tested positive for doping.

As a result, Alberto Puello, previously interim champion, became the new WBC champion in the 63.5 kg weight class. Thus, in his next fight Puello will have to face Martin from Spain.
