Briggs gave some unexpected career advice to Wilder

Former world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs believes Deontay Wilder should be actively fighting in his native Alabama after his loss to Zhang Zhilei.

"He needs to train well. Wilder always fights at the top level. After his losses to Tyson Fury, I wondered why he didn't come back to Alabama to put on a show, pack a full arena and fight against second- and third-rate opponents to get his confidence back. I've never understood why that's the case.

If Deontay is listening to me, I say hello to him. Take a step back, get a full house. Go back to your city and put together a 2-3 thousand person arena. Fight every month, have your people come out to support you. And then if you're ever ready, come back," Briggs said in an interview with YouTube channel FightHype.

Recall that on June 1, Wilder lost to Zhang Zhilei by technical knockout in the fifth round in the main event of a 5-on-5 tournament from promoters Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing.
