Today, May 27, should begin contract negotiations for a fight between WBC world champion in the weight of Bridger Lawrence Okolie (20-1, 15 KOs) and Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs). This was announced by the promoter of the South African boxer Rodney Berman.

Lerena is an official challenger for the World Boxing Council title and last year won the WBC silver belt in this weight class. The South African fighter's last fight was at heavyweight, but that didn't affect his status in the Bridgeway.

Last Friday, Okolie became the new WBC titleholder with an early win over Lukasz Ruzanski. The duel was the main event of a boxing evening organized in the former champion's hometown of Rzeszów, Poland.
