Eddie Hearn on Anthony Joshua’s next fight: "Anything can happen"

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Matchroom Boxing, recently outlined the future options for Anthony Joshua. At a press event yesterday, Hearn discussed potential matchups and the strategic decisions shaping Joshua's career path. He acknowledged challenges, including timing conflicts influenced by other major fights.

Anthony Joshua has been making headlines with his impressive victories. In December, he knocked out Swedish boxer Otto Wallin. Less than three months later, he defeated former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. Partnering with trainer Ben Davison has proved fruitful for Joshua.

Eddie Hearn elaborated on Joshua's ambition to become the fifth three-time heavyweight champion. This quest might involve key matches against notable contenders like Deontay Wilder. Wilder is considered a valuable opponent, potentially delaying Joshua's title challenge due to the fight’s appeal.

“Anything can happen, honestly. There has been a lot of conversations obviously, we know that the Riyadh season card has been locked in for Los Angeles on August 3rd and also there is the possibility of that London card at Wembley in September."

Hearn also speculated on upcoming heavyweight battles that could impact Joshua’s trajectory. Of particular interest is the fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk scheduled for May 18th. This match could lead to a vacant IBF title. Subsequently, Filip Hrgovic will face Daniel Dubois on June 1st for this likely vacated title.

Potential fights for Anthony Joshua include a high-stakes match against Deontay Wilder if Wilder wins his next bout against Zhang. Locations and dates have been suggested such as Los Angeles on August 3rd during the Riyadh season card or London in September at Wembley.
